Overview
From individual practice to whole group activity
IXL's skill practice was designed around personalized learning, allowing students to work at their own pace toward proficiency. To prevent students from sharing answers, each student received different questions in a different order.
While this model worked well for individual practice, it created a challenge for teachers using IXL for group instruction. Students couldn't work through the same question together, making it difficult to use IXL as a shared classroom activity.
We created Group Jam to bridge this gap. In Group Jam mode, teachers could select skills and questions for the entire class to work through together. Every student saw the same question at the same time, creating opportunities to collaborate, discuss strategies, or compete with classmates.
